In this video, Dr Catherine McGorrian talks about atrial fibrillation via the presentation of 2 clinical cases. Dr McGorrian describes the investigation and management of 2 patients with atrial fibrillation with specific reference to the ABC approach to holistic management of the patient including anticoagulation, symptom management and cardiovascular risk management.

Dr Catherine McGorrian (MSc, PhD, MRCPI) is a consultant in cardiology and acute medicine in The Mater Hospital, Dublin and an Associate Clinical Professor in University College Dublin. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has been working in the acute medicine service at the Mater Hospital since 2012. She also specialises in screening and management of families affected by genetic cardiac conditions and SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) through her cardiology clinic in the Mater Hospital’s Heart House.
